Precalculus Algebra TI-83/TI-84 Tutorial

COURSE CREDIT

This tutorial is now used in conjunction with certain distance education mathematics courses. You can earn college credit while learning to use your TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator. The following courses are currently available; to enroll, contact the institution offering the course.

Cuesta College San Luis Obispo, CA     Math 42G
Math 42G Precalculus Algebra Graphing Calculator Component

This course supports the Math 42 Precalculus Algebra course by presenting the features and use of a graphing calculator to solve problems specific to that course. Topics covered will parallel the development of concepts in Math 42 (students are encouraged to take Math 42 as a corequisite). Students must have access to e-mail and the Internet. 1.0 unit credit.

If you are an instructor at an institution that offers an advanced algebra, college algebra or precalculus algebra course, you might want to consider creating a similar calculator support course for your own students. Please take a moment to read the following excerpt from an e-mail of a student enrolled in the above Math 42G class...

"I think this class should be a required lab attached to the [algebra] class. It would take away the added burden the instructor has of having to explain technology as well as new math concepts. Students would find [their algebra class] easier and the class would run more smoothly. It would also help them when they are studying at home if they all had the reference of the CD to refer to."
