Mark Turner received his B.A. in Mathematics from California State University,
Fullerton in 1985. He worked in the aerospace industry for two years in El Segundo.
Part of a systems modeling and analysis team, his assignment was to modify a FORTRAN program in
order to model the behavior of an infrared observer satellite used to track ICBMs. He then
moved to San Luis Obispo and completed his graduate work at California Polytechnic State
University, where he received his M.S. in Mathematics and Secondary Teaching Credential.
Mark is a tenured faculty member of the Cuesta College Mathematics Division.
He has been a leading influence in the use of graphing calculator and multimedia technology in
the classroom. Besides being a published coauthor of the best-selling
text Trigonometry by Brooks/Cole, he is also creating educational materials through his own company, Turner
Educational Publishing. He currently has a professional commercial web site that offers
tutorials on the use of the TI-83 and TI-84 graphing calculators. Mark was honored in 1996 with
the CMC3 Award for Teaching Excellence.
